Dear Diary,
Instant messaging is a great way to keep up people. You get that satisfaction of knowing you can connect with others right away. It can be hard to decide if/when to give out my IM information.
Proceeding with caution..
~quick messaging satisfaction
In the world where instant satisfaction is at an all time high instant messaging definitely lends a hand in getting that gratification. There are a lot of options to chose from. It boils down to whether or not you want to indulge in the shenanigans of instant messaging.
When I first decided to do instant messages it was based on keeping up with friends/family. Then it moved into the realm of not giving out my personal number/email to those I don’t really know but want to chat with. Having this option is a good way to keep up without handing out your real phone number etc.
For those who don’t want others to find out what they are doing it’s one of the options to do that as well. To be honest I find that it’s easier to allow my buyers to message me through instant messaging. I say get instant messaging because on some selling platforms they give you a limit on how many messages you can send. Then on others you have unlimited messaging but it’s slow when communicating back and forth. Having another way to communicate with your buyers/potential buyers is good for business. As always use your alias when setting up your account.
If you haven’t learned already there are scammers out there who want to take you off of your selling platform. They do this so their are no record of conversations. They also do it in the hopes of obtaining private information about you. It happens but you can be your own best advocate by doing the best that you can to do what it takes to keep your information safe. No method is 100% fail proof. However, there are steps you can take to try to be safe.
Even if you decide to use it only for those who buy from you having it as an option is good. If you decide it’s not for you that’s fine also. There isn’t a right or wrong answer as to what works for you. Do what works best for you and your business.
Until next time…
