I need a way to store my pictures & videos. I definitely need to be able to serve my customers in a way that allows them to get their purchases without a big run around.
~Should I iCloud or nah?
Google drive is a file storage and synchronization service developed by Google . You can store any file in Google Drive and access them from anywhere, smartphone, tablet, or computer.
This can be very good for your panty selling business. By storing your files in Google drive you can easily access them even on the go. I strongly suggest downloading the Drive app for this. That way when you are away from your computer the app will allow you to access the files that you need. Doing this also allows you to free up the space from your phone. I also suggest having a external drive for storage backup. I use the brand flashdisk. It is useable with phones. You simply stick into the charger slot and go through the process of uploading/downloading to the drive.
If you offer custom pictures/videos you really should use Google drive. You create your content. Upload it to the drive. Then you can send the direct link to your customer. Wait!! There is more to it. If you do not want your files downloaded you must turn this feature off.
You MUST be on a computer to use the “disable” feature. To use the feature, open the sharing dialogue from any Google Drive file and click on Advanced in the lower right corner. Check the “Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers” box and click save.
Another thing that you must do is to go into the share file To set permissions for a folder: You want them to be a Viewer only. If you do the editor they will be able to edit your files which means they can end up deleting your files. Always have it as viewer only.
- Select the folder you want to share.
- Click Share on the top right.
- Click the drop-down arrow
- under Get Link.
- Choose to share the folder with Anyone with the link.
- Click the drop-down and choose what viewers can do:
- Viewer: Anyone with the link can view the files in the folder.
- Commenter: Anyone with the link can view and comment on the files in the folder.
- Editor: Anyone with the link can view, comment, organize files, add new files, and edit existing files in the folder.
- Click Copy link.
- Send it to the customer
When they click on the link it will have them ask permission from you to view the file. I like doing it this way so I know I sent it to the right person & so that I can have control of files being accessed.
The cost of Google drive is quite affordable. They give you so much free space with your Gmail email account. If you haven’t noticed it’s quite possible to go through the storage they give you quite fast unless you delete items to add more. I purchased 2 terabyte of storage for a year for $99. It is so worth it since I use it all the time for all of my pictures/videos of inventory & custom orders.
